I deleted my full name from that friends-only entry I mentioned (duh). right after I did that and googled my name all my LJ shit was still there on ljfind, so I was really freaked out. I decided to wait 24 hours and look again. EURKEA, It no longer shows up. Problem solved. yippeeeeee.

I'm gonna puke
I just googled my name on a whim
and it came up with my fucking LiveJournal I put my full name in a FRIENDS ONLY post a while ago, and my journal now comes up on
www.ljfind.com
^have you guys heard of this?
that site says it doesn't have access to friends-only posts, but I even signed out of LJ and searched again and it came up. and it has friends-only posts WORD FOR WORD pasted on the site.
I've written so much personal shit in this thing I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't want to delete this blog because I want to be able to come back to this and read this in many years. but I also don't want certain people seeing what I've written. god damn.

1. I woke up to a really, really nice message from Mark Heck today. I miss him so much. I know it sounds really dumb and shit, but I felt so connected to him I don't even know how to describe it. I was just... comfortable. and myself. and I haven't found anyone who makes me feel that way since. That makes me feel like I made a huge mistake coming back here (at least, without him). I want him to be my boyyyyyy. Ugh.
2. I'm putting on a show here. My very first I've organised and put together myself. I'm fucking stoked! It's gonna be The Mae Shi and Stand by For Action! and probably one or two other bands. The Mae Shi are from California and will be crashing on my couch and in my guest room, which is also really exciting because I love having bands stay at our house. Getting drunk before bed, telling life stories, making breakfast together in the morning, letting them use my hair products (yes, they're boys. eh? they're not used to such luxuries on the road!), etc. It's all very cute. I can't wait. It's January 20th, which is super soon/short notice, so that's another reason I'm excited... slash nervous.
3. My visa extension finally came through. I am no longer an illegal immigrant! PARTY!!!!!! Life rules. The student visa is extended until Oct 31st, so I have until about July to find a proper job and apply for a work visa.
4. My dad randomly sent me a check for $200. I know that will only end up being about £90, but still, hey, free money flying at me. Awesome.
Today is the best day I've had in a really long time

I have so goddamn much on my mind all the time, it actually frustrates and depresses me a little when I sit down to write and I can't even think of where to begin. I feel like no matter how I try to convey something, I never put the exact amount of emphasis on certain things. Like going to New York, and then to Maine, and how utterly amazing that was for me. Just being so close (NY) and then so far away (Maine) from everything, even if just for a few days. It was an enlightening experience, to say the least. See? I can't even explain how great my trip was. there's just too much to tell I guess.
Coming back and checking e-mails, myspace, facebook, livejournal, etc. completely sucks. Not that I don't love being back home, but..
well ok this is completely off subject, but it's been on my mind a lot lately. most of the people who I REALLY didn't expect to ignore my phone calls now that I'm here have been the ones who haven't given two shits I'm back, and the people I didn't expect to care are actually going out of their way to see me. And I'm just like... what the fuck? What happened to my friends?
I dunno. I keep saying this, but let me know if you want to see me, because I definitely want to see you

Chicago is wonderful and Sonic Youth blew me away last night, but I'm pretty bummed out because somehow all of my pictures got deleted. I didn't notice until just before Girl Talk, who just so happened to be the last act I watched.
so you will see no Voxtrot : ( no Grizzly Bear : ( no Battles : ( no Fujiya & Miyagi : ( no Iron & Wine : ( no Mastodon : ( no Dan Deacon : (
BUT! you WILL see pictures/videos from Girl Talk. soon enough.
some highlights - Sonic Youth did Daydream Nation, and it was flawless (really). The encore was the cherry on top of everything, since they played "Incinerate," and that's probably my favourite song by them.. ever maybe. Mark Ibold from Pavement came out and played with them for a bit too. - Voxtrot played tunes from all the EP's and the full length. It was so great. I love them. Ramesh would still be my dream boy if he'd kick the coke habit and start liking the female gender - Grizzly Bear were just as good as the last time I saw them, even with the technical difficulties (blonde multi-instrumentalist dude's pedals and shit wouldn't work for a while) - Battles. Is any explanation even necessary for this one? The only thing I'm not ecstatic about is that I had to leave about 30 minutes into their set to catch Fujiya & Miyagi - Fugiya & Miyagi were AMAZING. The audio levels were perfect. On the record it's mellow and at some parts pretty quiet, and it was just like that live - Iron & Wine played and I wasn't really all that into it until Sam Beam came out for his encore and did a cover of "No Surprises." I felt like he did it juuust for meeee - Mastodon were way too metal for life. In a good way - Dan Deacon was SO HILARIOUS AND GOOOOOD. If I wasn't dancing to his music I was laughing at his jokes. How perfect. But his set was shut down 20 minutes into it because there were too many people, and he was playing on the ground. There were about 10,000 surrounding him. It was insane and uncomfortable, but no one in the crowd really noticed I don't think. The fire brigade came though, and shut him down. damn the man - Girl Talk was definitely one of the most fun gigs I've ever experienced. Talk about a good time. And you know how Girl Talk remixes "Knife" by Grizzly Bear? Well, he did that remix, and the guys FROM Grizzly Bear came out on stage and started dancing with him, and Ed actually sang his part of the song. It was tooooo cuuuuuuuute
Anyway I think I should go to bed now. Tomorrow my day is kicked off with Deerhunter and closed with Klaxons. omfggggg. This is what dreams are made of.

since I've been back I've barely had enough time to SLEEP, let alone update
but here I am making time for it
after I get back from Chicago I'm going to need/want/have some serious relaxation time. I don't want to drive anywhere (i.e. Denton, Austin, etc) at all next week if I don't have to, so please make some time to come visit me. It's only fair.

(I wrote this yesterday, while waiting to board my plane...)
I've got nothing but time at the moment. An hour to be precise. I would have started writing earlier, but I had no electrical outlet in which to plug my computer charger. The battery's fucked up. It shuts off without notice after a short 5 minute time interval, and won't turn back on.
Anyway, the purpose of this entry is to account for my recent travels. By the time you read this I'm already back in Texas (surprise!). I arrived a week earlier than I told everyone I would, and if everything went the way I had planned, most people were surprised and hopefully happy to see me.
But I can't tell the future now can I.
The majority of the past two weeks has been a grandiose variety of intoxicating nights spent with my mother in London, Edinburgh, and Paris, drinking red wine on river fronts, giggling and scurrying about the cities like young teenagers, spilling secrets and telling stories of nostalgia. Mom was willing to splurge more than usual, which was a delightful and fortunate surprise for me. She treated us to fabulous meals, great hotels, and sight seeing attractions of which I have only dreamt or seen in books.
No matter how much time I spend in London, I never grow tired of it. There's always something to do, always a stranger with an interesting story to tell, always a gig to attend, always a pub in which to take refuge, always a friend who is willing to partake in random adventures. Not to mention, the city itself is a stunning piece of beauty. Like all metropolises, it has its pollution, rubbish, dirt, and grime, but beneath the polluted exterior is a history full of passion, loyalty, hardship, even excess, that bred architecture and culture that surpasses every other city I've ever been to, with the exception of New York. But even then, that city is a child compared to London, failing to produce aesthetic beauty fuelled by London's authentic and historic charm.
And Edinburgh-- what an indescribably gorgeous place that is. I'd visited when I was 14, but it is really true how with age comes more of the ability to appreciate all the beautiful significance the world has to offer. This visit was so different. Scotland is enchanting-- castles everywhere, a history you can breathe as well as touch. But like London, not only is Edinburgh old, it is also city that has incorporated modernity to keep with the times. I wouldn't mind living there after I graduate, although London is and always will be my first choice.
To tell the truth, although it was ungodly beautiful, Paris was pretty much as cliche as I had expected. The Eiffel tower's light show is horrendously cheesy, and not to my surprise almost no one was friendly or helpful. This is a trait I both love and despise about France. They are so boastful and full of pride-- to a cocky yet justified level. Their refusal to speak English is something with which I can empathise, but when they're rude to me just because I'm American, that's just plain prejudice. In other words, after having only been there four days, I've decided that Paris is slightly overrated, but still beautiful, but I'm indifferent to it and its citizens, most of whom are closed-minded. I would really like to explore the rest of the country though. First I need to pick up some French, because it is kind of hell getting by not knowing any.
Funny story though. Mom and I were at dinner-- this little Mom 'n Pop restaurant-- very authentic and traditional. The owner comes up to us before we order and strikes a conversation of broken English (he was trying , which was nice, and a first) about where we're from. We say Texas. Without a positive or negative expression on his face, he says simply, "Ahh, George Bush...," waiting for our reply. We immediately react with disgust and disapproval, to which he extends his hands to each of us, and says with a sincere smile, "Welcome."
I thought that was cute. It's a moment I know I'm going to remember for the rest of my life.
Another moment which will stay with me happened in London, watching Gordon Brown give his new Prime Minister speech outside apt 10 on TV. To think I was actually just down the street when it happened baffles me. Along with my father, I was rooting for Brown all this time, and I'm relieved that Tony Blair blessed him, albeit reluctantly, as the former PM's successor.
I haven't slept or showered in over 48 hours as I'm writing this. The fatigue is starting to get to me, but at the same time the delirium is providing my mind and body with a refreshing rush of excitement. My knees are bouncy, hands jittery, thoughts jumping all over the place. But I know (or at least hope) the plane ride will be a pleasant 9h55m of slumber. Day before yesterday I was in France, yesterday back in London, today Texas.
I'm gonna go catch my flight now.
